THE State Government is ignoring one of the worst intersections in
Mooroolbark, says Kilsyth state Liberal MP David Hodgett, adding he
fears someone will be killed before action is taken.
Speaking in Parliament last week, Mr Hodgett accused Roads and Ports
Minister Tim Pallas of allowing senseless accidents to happen at the
intersection of Brice Ave and Hull Rd, the most recent on October 31
when a 15-year-old boy was struck by a car and suffered head and foot
injuries.
Mr Hodgett said he first called on the Government to install a pedestrian crossing at Brice Ave and Hull Rd in October 2007.
``For a long time now, these intersections in Mooroolbark have been a
ticking time bomb just waiting for accidents to happen,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Evelyn state Liberal MP Christine Fyffe has asked Mr Pallas
to have a right-turn arrow installed at the lights where Kimberley
Drive and Fletcher Rd intersect with Maroondah Highway in Chirnside
Park.
Mrs Fyffe said she had 722 letters of support from residents.
She said she feared aggravated motorists could endanger lives by taking unnecessary risks.
VicRoads regional director Steve Brown said there were no specific
proposals for the Kimberley Drive intersection, but VicRoads would
continue to monitor the safety and operation of the site.
